    1. This is a good jumping on point for those not familiar with Harbinger It s very much a getting the band back together arc It s definitely a darker tone and much graphic than previous iterations The art is great I m a long time fan of Darick Robertson s going back to his work on New Warriors in the early 90 s One thing I was confused about is that in previous volumes I thought x was black Here he s clearly drawn to be white I would have liked to see clarity to Solomon s motives They were still [...]

    2. Free copy provided by Netgalley in return for an honest reviewRating 5 5Publication Date 02nd May 2017Review Date 29th March 2017I ve never had any experience with anything to do with this series before I d never even heard of it until I saw it on Netgalley and decided to request it This is one of the best decisions I ve ever made. Here s a list of some of my favourite things in this comic view spoiler Black leads LGBT couple Overweight superhero Drug addict superhero hide spoiler How often do we [...]

    3. This was my first exposure to Valient comics which other comics readers had told me was good First off this didn t seem very original It reminded me of some stories from the big 2 and it felt like something was missing I will admit that this just wasn t for me but wouldn t advise not reading it because I didn t like it.

    4. Harbinger Renegade Vol 1 The Judgment of Solomon by Rafer Roberts with art by Stephen Segovia is a pretty decent story about a dysfunctional team of superheroes who need to figure out how to work together again. The story starts with a prelude that introduces the Renegades The current most active member is Faith Zephyr Herbert, who has her own Valiant series The rest have gone into retirement or gone a bit crazy. There is a gene lurking unknown inside some people that makes them psiots The powers [...]

    5. I absolutely adored this I haven t read Harbinger before, nor was I familiar with any of these characters though I have heard of Faith I m a big fan of Archer Armstrong by Valiant and this is by the same author as the new AA so thought I d go with this and I was not disappointed This is a great starting place for a newbie to these characters as the beginning starts with an introduction to the universe, who the characters are, and what happened in the past to bring them to the point they are now [...]

    6. I m going to comment on the Renegade characters in this GN as they are a fabulous bunch They really stood out from most superhero teams I ve seen with different sexuality and ethnicity Comics are a great place to showcase this visually and we need diverse characters. We have ethnic representation from across the board Caucasian, Asian, African American Plus we have 1 current and 1 previous lgtb couple And when I thought it couldn t get better there are many different body types and sizes in this [...]

    7. I got a digital copy of this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review I only have an iota of knowledge concerning Valiant comics I read a few of their comics in the 1990 s when they first came out, but I haven t even thought about them in years until someone mentioned them in a chatroom recently Off the top of my head Ninjak, Bloodshot, Rai, and X O Manowar are the only characters from Valiant that I could even name I ve never heard of this artist or writer on the book before either, but [...]

    8. The Harbinger Renegades brought down Toyo Harada and his scheme to take over the world But in doing so, they released a list of potential psiots to the world Now someone is trying to activate various individuals off the list with DIY kits that leave bodies strewn and no new psiots The Renegades come back together to try to stop the mayhem and save lives, but will their group dynamics destroy them before their enemies get the chance Read and find out.

    9. Thanks to netgalley, Rafer Roberts and Diamond Book Distributors for the advance PDF ARC for my honest review. The cool thing with netgalley, you have so many genres to explore at your finger tips, and so glad that I started reading and exploring graphic novels I do like the change of pace from a traditional book, discovered that I seem to like the supernatural stuff the better in this format I remember flipping through one of the Valiant Harbinger releases back in 90 s at a now defunct Books A M [...]

    10. Amazing first 4 issues of the Harbinger Renegades The group that was once torn apart is now back again The world needs the Renegades now than ever, almost as much as they need eachother.

    11. I ve never been huge into Harbinger and this was a good re launch that does leave with some questions I want to explore in the next volume.

    12. It has been months since the Renegades fell apart Only x and Faith are still doing a hero job What does it take to reunite this team of heroes

    13. Typical heroes who don t want to be heroes tale I like the diversity of characters in terms of sexual orientation, race, body etc.

    14. DNF and that s the publishers, who included the fourth episode of this story without colouring or text I d DNFfed it myself if that s even a term before then anyway this sub X Men different factions of superpowered teens in combat series was just too meh Yes, it would have been better if I d known what had gone on in earlier volumes, but all the same just because it s got dykes and Rebel Wilson in it, doesn t automatically make it interesting.

    15. Valiant has done a tremendous job with the Harbinger series It s one of the most stellar Science Fiction comics in a very long time Though Harbinger Renegade would be a bit of a struggle for new readers, the opening pages give the reader a round up of what has gone before A dangerous group is trying to activate latent powers in teens that are unfortunately leading to violent deaths When the surviving members of the Renegades come together once again to face down this tremendous threat I loved th [...]

    16. This book drops you right in the middle of a compelling story, and it ended way too soon I think they just got a new fan of the series, and I will be avidly waiting the rest of the story I appreciated how human the superheroes are and how well they weaved just enough of the story to keep you interested and not lost But left enough unsaid to keep up the intrigue and make the reader look forward to Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes comic books.

    17. Harbinger Renegade, Volume 1 The Judgement of Solomon be Rafer Roberts et al is a free NetGalley e comicbook that I read in mid February. After a 2 3 page prologue to get us readers up to speed with who and what the Renegades are before Harbinger Renegade, it s a lot like getting the band back together to fight an old, overlording enemy, who uses ruthless tactics on young, untrained, ingenue mutated children It s a violent story cast with imbittered characters maybe that s why I sided with Faith [...]

    18. Finally a group of heroes that do not look like the typical heroes and are plagued with real life problems drugs, jail, even reality tv Six months before, the heroes blew the whistle about people with special psionic powers and released a list of names with the potential to develop these special powers The Harbinger Renegade group is collecting the teenagers on the list and trying to force an activation of those powers Deaths rapidly pile up and the original whistle blowers must team up to try a [...]

    19. The return of Harbinger hit all the right notes re establishing the Renegades, maintaining the continuity of the earlier Harbinger run written by Joshua Dysart, introducing a new and menacing villain in Solomon, and making Psiots at the front and center of the Valiant Comics Universe This return to form sees Solomon manipulate matters to re establish the Renegades for his as yet undisclosed purposes Like Harada before him, Solomon a former protege of Harada from a long time ago actively seeks ou [...]

    20. Disclaimer I received a free ecopy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a great book to read if you re familiar with some of the events leading up to it There are references to the early Harbinger books from Valiant Entertainment, but they do provide some information to let the reader know what is happening. The knowledge on how to unlock powers within a small percentage of the population, and who those people are, has been released into the world Now various groups are trying t [...]

    21. This would be the worst jumping on point in the world for new readers While very good, this story requires a lot of knowledge of the back story of the characters and the world in which the story happens. The artwork is excellent, and the characters are very interesting In this volume, we learn a bit about one of the groups which spun off from the Harada projects, but not quite enough to be sure whether their leader is brilliant, dangerously crazy, or both.Meanwhile, Faith and her surviving frien [...]

    22. ARC from NetGalley This is a fun introduction to a new series As such, it feels like a prologue volume and a part of a much bigger story To grade it justly, here are some pro s and cons Pros Awesome story Has an X Men style social awareness but it is way subtler about it Does not feel like a PSA in any given moment Great sci fi feel in a timeline that is almost present time Awesome characters FAITH FAITH FAITHCons Too much exposition, too little story, too little happening Prologues felt out o [...]
