    1. A Life Intercepted by Charles Martin is a heartbreakingly poignant and incredibly riveting story about unconditional love and forgiveness This engrossing novel is thought provoking and moving and it carries an emotional and compelling message about selfless love and the restorative power of forgiveness. From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, there are two constants in Matthew Rising s life his deep and abiding love for his wife Audrey and his love for the game of football His father ins [...]

    2. A thank you to Judy Collins for reccomending this book on GR This why I love GR I would never read this book in a million years if for Judy s review I have never read any of Charles Martin s books before, but it will not be my last Grabbed me from the beginning and never let go Great and powerful characters and tremendous story line Again thank you Judy for bringing this book my attention

    3. This was a wonderful book It is a story of love, loss, and forgiveness It was poignant at times, completely heartbreaking at others It was one of the most touching books I ve read in awhile, which is something I seem to always be able to say about Martin s books He is such a spectacular storyteller In this one, he again created great characters that I felt very invested in, an intriguing storyline, and a compelling setting Matthew Rising had it all as a young college graduate He had a supportive [...]

    4. A Life Intercepted by Charles Martin is a deeply moving and powerful story of big dreams lost and found, unwavering faith, hope and forgiveness one of never ending love, and redemption Love did what hatred could not and never will South Georgia, 34 yr old Matthew Rising Rocket loves football and has made his way to fame, by hard work, drive, and determination With two Heisman trophies, top NFL draft pick, TV appearances, financial security, front covers, a town who loves him, offering the key to [...]

    5. A Life Intercepted by Charles Martin is a good sports story about a former star quarterback who trains a high school player, while facing a brutal press and an unforgiving public.Matthew Rising was an up and coming quarterback superstar poised to have an incredible football career His impending superstardom, however, is derailed when he is accused and ultimately found guilty of sexual assault Rising denies the accusation and has never given up proclaiming his innocence. When the story opens, Risi [...]

    6. 4.5 I really like Charles Martin s novels This is a story about a quarterback the love of his life At the height of his football career, he is wrongly accused of a terrible crime, and sent to prison When released, he mentors a young football player, risking violating his parole I felt so bad for all he went through and how horrible and judgmental people can be This book has a lot of football lingo, but even if you don t love the sport, you will love the story of love and redemption.

    7. Really liked this book I think I like the author s personal story at the end as much as the book A good read

    8. Charles Martin is an author I ve long admired Beautiful, fantastic prose I swear the guy labors endlessly over certain paragraphs until every word is perfectly placed Or made it s effortless Either way, it s beautiful and I always find myself stopping to soak in his amazing prose Ah, but with Charles There s always So much His characters are so true to life Yet bigger than life A perfect blend And the way he writes male characters you can t help but think he s a super romantic man himself His [...]

    9. Reviewed at The Power of Words tinyurl m2sj45qAfter reading A Life Intercepted, I m kicking myself for not having read any of Charles Martin s ten novels before now His style of writing and the quality of his prose alone propel this story to the top tier of books that I ve enjoyed And then there s the story itself well crafted, poignant, riveting, emotional, compelling, and A Life Intercepted is a story of the fallen hero, broken relationships, effort to win back what was lost, and a final swee [...]

    10. I had a hard time with this one There are parts that I really enjoyed, which is pretty rare for me and male authors Then there are parts that were incredibly hard to swallow. One of the biggest hurdles for me was connecting with and believing Audrey s character Someone who manages to earn her own nickname as a girlfriend or a spouse in the world of sports because of her support and defense of the guy she is with doesn t work as the same person that breaks so easily or quickly when things get ugly [...]

    11. This is a book that was recommended to me by a dear friend, and I can see why he enjoyed it as much as he did The prose is phenomenal The story is emotionally touching The book certainly keeps your attention after about the first 40 pages or so.But this is a really dreadful book Wildly unrealistic, often factually incorrect, and just cheesy to an extreme I ve never encountered before Perhaps the author doesn t follow the NFL much, but to think that a man who spent 12 years in prison would then b [...]

    12. Charles Martin rocks again If a female who doesn t particularly care about football unless the Oklahoma State Cowboys are playing can give this book a 5 star rating, it must be GREAT And it truly is Charles Martin has once again introduced me to characters that I respect and can relate to Did I understand the football positions and plays Not one bit But the passions displayed for the game are similar to those I have for things that I love And those things that we truly love can help sustain us t [...]

    13. I have read everything Charles Martin has written but was greatly disappointed in his last book Unwritten In Unwritten I could not emphasize with the characters In his new book A Life Intercepted due out late summer early fall he is back on my must read list Except for the football theme which is a major part of the book Martin has once again written a story where the characters are strong, well developed, make big mistakes and find a way to make it right again One could go as far as saying that [...]

    14. I have not read anything by Charles Martin that I have not loved From my first, Wrapped in Rain, to his latest, he is such a great writer Boy, can he tell a story

    15. It s been a long time that I read a book in two days As always, Mr Martin grabbed my heart and I was in tears at Chapter two and I m not sure that they ever stopped until I closed the book.

    16. SUMMARYMatthew the Rocket Rising s life was not only intercepted, it was ruined Twelve years ago, Matthew had it all, love, friends, and notoriety for being the winningest quarterback in college football He was the number one NFL draft pick, and had made lots of people happy Almost everyone loved him Almost everyone But on the night of the draft his glory days came to an abrupt end He was accused of a heinous sex crime and the evidence was irrefutable Having served his time, he is now being rele [...]

    17. This is the perfect read for right before football season The one thing the book needed was for Audrey to be a cheerleaderwhat s football without cheerleaders Anyways, this is my first Charles Martin and I really love his writing style and the way he pays attention to details I m a real football fan girl but I think a non footballer could read this book and leave with a good understanding of the game So refreshing to read a book with such a good message

    18. Absolutely sensational book Mystery, thriller, and romance all wrapped into one And as an added bonus it revolves around football, which makes it even better Incredible incredible book.

    19. Charles Martin s writing career seems unstoppable Every book that comes out makes me think this is his best yet and his latest is certainly no exception In fact, I honestly wish I hadn t read A Life Intercepted e then I would be able to read it all over again as if experiencing it for the first time It is simply THAT good Within a few pages of charging into the story, I found myself living and walking alongside the characters, feeling an ominous sort of tension building as I waited to find out e [...]

    20. I loathe footballybe than anyone else on earth but I had read a Charles Martin book a few months ago Long Way Home , and found it to be incredible, so I had to read of his books This was one I put on my Christmas wish list and did get for Christmas I m not a fan of first person point of view books, and that seems to be all Martin writes.which is one reason I never read anything by him until I reviewed and read the book I mentioned I still think he d do better at third person, but this was a ph [...]

    21. I ve never read a book by this author and while I actually enjoyed the football details and found the story engaging, it was just so far fetched and the characters simple and one dimensional it was hard to enjoy Audrey was annoying, disloyal and very very shallow Dee was interesting but I would have liked to hear of his story again one dimensional character who is only a football player Most of all, and I am not a lawyer, the ending was so ridiculous it made me mad I mean really, a witness reca [...]

    22. Why is the Rocket character so self effacing I hated the importance placed on Audrey in Rocket s ability to be a quarteback Her character is not worthy because she questions his innocence during his most needy time I believe also all she really wants out of Dee is another superstar that will adore her My important issue with this novel is Charles Martin misrepresentation of the church of Christ Just because there are no musical instruments in our worship services doesn t mean we are non singing [...]

    23. Once I started this book I couldn t put it down Sometimes I felt like the hero was a bit to perfect, especially in his teenage years Couldn t he have done one thing wrong to make him human That aside, Matthew wouldn t have been Matthew if he wasn t a great down to earth person The football lover in me enjoyed that side, and the romantic in me loved that side of the book A happy ending for all.

    24. Main reasons why this book is a waste of time Way too much detail ad nauseum about football This book reads like a how to play quarterback or football 101 manual, not a novel that can sustain interest.Extremely unrealistic story lineSuperficial character developmentConstant reminders of an overrated SEC

    25. I am not a football fan, but the description of this book intrigued me It was an enjoyable read with the football parts not overwhelming me as a non fan It is a story of redemption, love, healing, and selflessness.

    26. Not my favorite Charles Martin book, but OK Somewhat predictable with not as interesting characters as I m used to in his writing.

    27. I don t normally like reading books about sports, but this book held my interest In fact I thoroughly enjoyed this book

    28. In the minorityThe first book I ever read by Charles Martin was Long Way Gone I was convinced I d found my new favorite artist All of us grow in life and art, and I don t know when this book was written but I m thinking it was early in Martin s career I really like the guy the author s comments at the end of his books depict a wonderful person so I want to give a higher rating based on that alone I read mostly good reviews on this book, and I did not look at how old those reviews are The experie [...]
