Welcome to the 1st ever Cowboy Off BR betwixt Team A Cupcake Noah Team B Al, JenM and Me Team A BarebackTeam B The Ranch ForemanI won t quelt my epic love for Bareback But let s just say Baby loves it, yeah I rated it a jarful of stars. And you know what else I enjoy That s right, you guessed itRob Colton I bet you thought I d say cowboysey re alright and all but I m a city girl with a penchant for swords I love those edges Rob Colton I formed this odd secret obsession for his stories earlier thi [...]

    2. I actually did enjoyed this but its definitely not your champagne and roses romance and I can see why some readers wouldn t like it because the two main characters do tend to have you exasperated and rolling your eyes but if you take on board that that s how they are and accept it for what it is then I think the story is really readable.Baxter and Matty come under the heading of stupid stubborn men on my shelves, especially Baxter who acts like a complete bastard because he s frightened of outin [...]

    3. Darn I loved the whole idea of cowboys and the ranch and all that, but unfortunately the end result just didn t quite pull it off The story was mostly about Matt the young and na ve MC and Baxter the older gruff MC and how Matt was lusting after Baxter, and how Baxter was a total asshat And I didn t buy their declarations of love at the end, since I d spent most of the story annoyed with Matt for being such a pushover for this guy But the story wasn t a total washout I really enjoyed the seconda [...]

    4. Unfortunately, there really wasn t anything that worked for me in this story There was no real romance, Baxter was a dick for the first three quarters and Matty was a door mat, letting Baxter use him and then throw him away Repeatedly The last little bit of the story where Baxter wasn t a complete douche really didn t make up for the rest.

    5. Absolutely loved this book It has all the right ingredients for me age difference and cowboys P I was hooked from the start, since like Matty I like older man, and I really didn t see Baxter as such an asshole Sure his behavior pissed me off often, than not, but I could understand his motives and sympathize with them Like he himself said he s a middle aged closeted cowboy, cut him some slack The story was rather short and Baxter s indecision and uncertainty didn t feel dragged out to me, but ju [...]

    6. 5 Stars KAPOW A Live Your Life, Buy The Book ReviewMadison Ward AKA Matty has just left everything behind to come work as a ranch hand where his cousin Brian lives and works Matty had been living with his aunt, Brian s mother, taking care of her while the Cancer ate away at her body Matty had done all he could do with his aunt but he just couldn t provide the care she needed, so Brian had her moved to an assisted living facility Now, here he is with his cousin about to do a job he has no idea ho [...]

    7. I have only recently started reading books by this author especially a few of his free stories I really enjoyed the first book in the Galactic Conspiracies This story was very different it had a serious and darker edge but it was still really good. When I first started reading this I thought it might turn out to be one of those run of the mill gay cowboy stories but it wasn t Matt gets a job on a ranch along with his cousin and he finds himself attracted to the ranch foreman Baxter Unfortunately [...]

    8. 4.5 stars You can tell this was written by a man That said, I liked this story a lot Probably because of all the emotions it stirred inside me Matty seemed so sweet, if a bit of a pushover sometimes Baxter, on the other hand, was a bastard, and I didn t want him with Matty at all But I warmed up to him in the end, seeing how hard it was for him to just come out and say what he wanted And when Matty started to stand up to himself , that was good too I was relieved. So why does it matter if the sto [...]

    9. First off, I didn t read the blurb closely enough to see that this was a May December romance Those usually don t work for me, but I had already purchased the book and had started so I kept going The age difference didn t bother me as much as the attitude of MC Baxter did He was deep in the closet and set in his ways and had no problems hurting MC Matty emotionally to get his rocks off Sure, he redeemed himself in the end, but by then it was too little, too late in my eyes.Cannot recommend I fou [...]

    10. This was your typical hard ass older and of course closeted cowboy falls for a younger and out cowboy kind of story view spoiler Don t forget to throw in the standard younger cowboy gets hurt injured and older cowboy finally realizes his feelings when he thought the younger one might not make it scene hide spoiler I mean, don t get me wrong, over all I liked it, but I ve read plenty of books like this I give it a solid 3 star, liked it, rating.

    11. Title The Ranch Foreman by Rob ColtonReviewed by BarbRating 3.5 heartsTwenty seven year old Matty Ward finds himself homeless after caring for his aunt until she moved into an assisted living facility Fortunately, his cousin Brian arranges a job for him on the ranch where he s been working and, when he arrives and first sets eyes on forty four year old, sexy ranch foreman Baxter Hollingsworth, it s lust at first sight Unfortunately, Baxter is deep in the closet and apparently unwilling to step o [...]

    12. This was on the DSP bestseller list and I like cowboy stories, so I thought I d try it.I was very quickly put off by the author s writing style It felt very amateurish and fan fiction like to me I just didn t think it was good writing.Added to that, the foreman MC was just a total dick He was closeted, only came after the kid MC when he was completely drunk, and ignored him the rest of the time And the only reason the author gives why the other kid MC, Matt, likes the foreman is because he s Mat [...]

    13. The Ranch Foreman has a fairly standard plot closeted foreman meets new guy on the ranch but I was still looking forward to reading it It was a pleasant way to pass an hour or two but I could tell I really wasn t totally into the story when I found myself spending time trying to visualise strange sexual positions from a practicality not erotic perspective rather than focusing on the characters and emotions.I just didn t warm to either of the characters and found their falling for each other hard [...]

    14. Finally the man is publishing after years of free online fiction I m so happy for him D there is something unique about Rob s stories that just pull my heartstrings Of course it is always the little guy falling for the bigger, often a bit bearish guy So it is his formula and it works, brilliantly Rob s stories always feels so innocent and truthful and I never get bored of them I think I have ad his fe fic several times which I hardly ever do with other stories They are my comfort reads I suppose [...]

    15. 1.5 stars Well, this was a disappointing read I didn t like the characters hated Baxter most of the time and had no respect for Matt or their so called chemistry which seemed about porn than love The story itself just didn t flow right and went downhill after the first chapter the rest stop scene was just distasteful in my opinion By the end, the enjoyment factor was definitely nonexistent for this one Had such an interesting premise too Oh well.

    16. It was ok and I finished it, that s all there is to say about this book I think Or no, I want to add that I didn t get what both see in each other, the insta love and I also didn t get why, with a title like The Ranch Foreman we get to know next to nothing about him.

    17. This review can be found at The Armchair Reader.2.5 starsThis is a difficult review to write I won t deny that the writing drew me in even though this is essentially just an erotica novella, I still had that desire to continue reading even when I was being overwhelmed by sex. When Matty puts his aunt in a nursing home, it leaves him homeless until his cousin gets him a job at a ranch Once there, he s immediately attracted to Baxter, the older ranch foreman who s very deep in the closet Everyone o [...]

    18. 2.5 HeartsReview written for MM Good Book Reviewsmmgoodbookreviews.wordpress I start reading this story and the first impressions are quite good As I progress further into the plot, those impressions keep getting better The characters described here are not only charming and appealing, but they have a raw feeling, a certain depth that real people do Yes, that is what I kept thinking while reading this story.Matt and Baxter were very realistically portrayed The closeted cowboy, his reactions, how [...]

    19. One of my favorite tropes is the older man younger man pairing I also happen to be fond of laconic characters and bumpy roads to happiness courtesy of cultural differences Baxter, the ranch foreman of the title, is a middle aged cowboy who s been in the closet so long he no longer even imagines a door Matt isn t much of a cowboy at first, but he tackles whatever it takes to learn he s also comfortable with his own sexuality and completely at a loss over how to handle Baxter It s an endearing set [...]

    20. There are a lot of people in this world who are naturally willing to help someone down on their luck That s the case for Matty and his job at the Gates s ranch Matty knows nothing about ranching but they hire him, sight unseen, and make him part of the family This family includes a ranch foreman whom Matty can t keep his eyes off of and who could blame him A man in boots and riding a horse is a mighty appealing sight.Matty grew up with his aunt and cousin after his mom died of cancer After quitt [...]

    21. WOWI love you Rob Colton This was another super awesome read for me Matty was a sweet guy who needed a job and somewhere to live Thank goodness his cousin could help him out and got him a job at the ranch where he worked. When we first meet Baxter who s, you guessed it, the ranch foreman , he comes off as a gruff mean cowboy who desperately hides the fact that he s gay Matty tries to connect with him but gets rebuffed at every turn There are however some redeeming moments for Baxter view spoiler [...]

    22. I read this one straight through and really enjoy the first 75% of the story Baxter s behavior and action as a deeply in the closet forty plus years old cowboy was well done, this character believable, his almost callous treatment of Matty realistic The much younger Matty who does not hide his sexuality is the typical sweet gay character the hunky and possessive guy wishes to protect That said I continue to enjoy this kind of pairing in my MM romance I thought the tension between Baxter and Mat [...]

    23. I wasn t going to read this one, but it ended up on my e reader and I randomly picked it I really didn t like Baxter, he was an ass and I felt that he did nothing but walk all over Matty throughout the book and treated him like crap I understand that he was deeply in the closet, etc but it didn t make it right and I kind of wished Matty wasn t so wishy washy when it came to him However, without that of course we wouldn t have had a story The writing was good and that is probably why I continued [...]

    24. I have to admit, I am a fan of Rob Colton I ve read all of his literotica freebies and I can t seem to get enough of his work. With that said, I can see why some people would have a problem with Baxter s actions BUT, he s 44 year old closted rancher He s set in his ways and he s not going to change overnight I thought his actions were spot on Matty, well, I loved him I thought he was proud and thought Baxter was hot, but wasn t going to he a doormat because of his lust for him I wanted to jump up [...]

    25. There s not really a big storyline, but for romantic fluff, it s a satisfying read I suppose I would say this story is character driven than story line drive One young gay guy starting to work on a ranch Check One burly, gruff Ranch Foreman Check There s a little bit of angst, a little bit of romance and an HEA What s not to like

    26. Pleasant story Baxter grew on me by the end though I really didn t like him at first I really like Matty and thought he deserved better.
