    2. Book 2 Homeward on the Oregon Trail.LOL Well I now know how the wagon train made it to Oregon and the events on the way Since reading book 3 out of order, I was pleased and happy to read of the good adventures and of the sad mishaps that Elizabeth and her travel mates endured Part of the appeal of Melody Carlson s stories is her detailed historical facts I felt like I was on the Oregon Trail with Elizabeth I could hear the crashing water as it tumbled over the waterfall And smell the clean air a [...]

    3. Enhanced by historyI loved how the author used pieces of history, geography, and current events of the times to provide context to her story I also enjoyed how the author streamlined the story by focusing on a group of characters that illustrated and answered the question, What would it have been like on the Oregon Trail

    4. I don t know if I will read the third book in this trilogy, since book 2 ends at getting the wagon trail to its destination But the first two books were a nice, gentle view of the pioneers traveling across America, w o any Indian fights though it did depict a number of trials along the way.

The Martin s, the Dawson s, Brady and the rest of the wagon train are continuing on their trek to Oregon They encounter some rough traveling, some loses and some inconveniences, like Elizabeth having to share her wagon with a grieving Mrs Taylor Remember Mrs Taylor disapproved of the Martin s, Dawson s and most of the rest of their unit, but it is with Elizabeth Martin that she chooses to travel with after the tragic loss of her husband and her beloved organ. The wagon train splits with traveler [...]

    8. For the most part, I enjoyed the first book in this series, Westward Hearts I really like Oregon Trail stories, and that part of the first book was great There were a few things in the previous novel that I thought were a bit out of place, and I didn t always connect with the setting or characters. But all of those issues were completely resolved in this second offering, which made it much enjoyable for me I don t know if it was because I already knew the characters and setting or if the writing [...]

    9. This is the second of three books in the Homeward on the Oregon Trail series We are primarily following the Dawson and Martin families as they leave their Kentucky homestead for a new home on the Oregon coast The first book chronicled the families plans for departure and the major part of the journey on the Oregon Trail One quickly gets caught up in life on the open prairie, 12 mile days by wagon or on foot, evening dinners and time spent around the campfires, and relationships that form This bo [...]

    11. I loved the first book in this series, and I m pleased that the second book was just as great. This book completed the journey to Oregon, but there were still plenty of surprises along the way I m a huge historical fiction buff, so the details about life along the trail were fascinating to me This series has so many characters to keep track of, so I really appreciated the summary in the beginning about who s who I wish all series did this, as it had been over a year since I d read the first one a [...]

    12. A Dream for TomorrowThis is the second book in the Homeward on the Oregon Trail As with the other book, I was riveted to the book The author wrote about the historical crossing on the Oregon trail giving us a true idea of the rails, tribulations, sorrows and sheer joy of traveling on the trail Again, Ms Carlson has made me feel like I too was crossing with the wagon train I got so wrapped up in all that was going on that I would loose track of time and that in my opinion is high praise This is a [...]

    13. I feel like this book moved along at a better pace than the previous book did Perhaps that s because Elizabeth and her family and friends were now significantly on their journey to Oregon, and the author did not need to waste time establishing Elizabeth s back story.I have pioneer ancestry, and although they did not travel along the Oregon Trail, there were places mentioned in the book that were familiar to me I also loved the way the author portrayed life in the wagon train, and I could see the [...]

    14. A fiction historical account of the people who followed the Oregon Trail to get new lands in Oregon. The trail was fraught with problems narrow, steep trails, broken down wagons, animals who were worn out, people s worries and concerns, sickness.Through the family s faith and prayers and the camraderie that developed within the unit of travelers, they were successful in overcoming all of these obstacles.A clean read of the faith and courage of pioneers going to Oregon to settle new homes.
